A horse, a rider and lots of flashes

Got this really cool photo shoot done a few days ago, out on the field as most of the time! The location was perfect, the weather could have done better, but as you all know, I can choose what lens, what camera, what flash to use, but the damn weather will always be the way it wants to be! Well, gotta go with the flow and shoot whatever the circumstances are!
Loving it though, as it always puts me into a situation that has to be figured out somehow. Somehow I mean, somehow...struggle or be successful at all times. This one was a complete success! Take a look at the shot below, and it just tells how happy the rider and the horse are together!

The rider, Rachael Lowden, my previous model for a shoot, this time as a client, is a young lady from the city of York. She loves her life, living it to the limit, doing all the good stuff that she enjoys a lot. As Rachael told me on the day, the horse / Rosie/ takes up most of her time. Riding, cleaning, taking care of her all week long throughout the year. Tough stuff to do, so I stick with the camera.
These photos were shot inside, in a massive stable run by a lovely person near Dunnington. I think the place is called Allerthorpe, but I might be wrong. Anyway, got out from the stables and headed to a pretty high hill, gotta say it is a human-made hill. Hill for the horses, not so hill for human beings. Rachael rode the horse on the top of it, shot some tight frames with additional light on her side. Good stuff, next location please!
Wanted to have a great selection of shots, so started to move around the field. Ups and downs, left to right moves, walking and galloping with the horse. Tight and wide shots, close and further away. The horse was so great to work with, that I might just do another shoot with a horse itself! Massive eyes, that stare at you as they were a pair of eyes of your best mate. Lookin, deep into your eyes, telling you how great it is to be with a keeper like Rachael on a green filed like we were on that day!
The shoot was pretty much over in no more than 2 hours. 2 pretty long hours though, it seemed like a whole day. Running up and down for my softboxes that I left behind on the previous settings. Always handy for loosing some weight after Christmas :D.

More to come here soon, keep your eyes open guys! Read the original article and much more at our blog
